Oswald Jacoby recounts a 1963 bridge misstep in a men’s pair game. He reached 3NT aiming for five to six tricks but misread the clubs and diamonds, ducked critical plays, and failed to cash the ace of clubs, leading to an unmade contract.
About 100 members and guests of the Frederick Civitan Club attended the annual holiday dinner dance at the Francis Scott Key Hotel. Rev. Car roll Boyer spoke on "Freedom" and Rev. Dr. Ralph E. White gave the invocation. Music by the Little German Band accompanied the dance. Guests included Eugene Ensor of Westminster and Amos Strickter of Chambersburg. Door prizes were awarded to several members. Warren P. E. Smith presided with Joseph M. Wilson handling arrangements.
