State says MARC won't be downtown

OCEAN CITY The main Frederick station for the proposed MARC commuter rail line will be outside the downtown area state transportation officials said Friday. Transportation secretary James Lighthizer said a downtown terminal could be a secondary site, noting time and gridlock concerns and that Congress has not fully funded the transportation act. County leaders expressed surprise but understood the rationale while still supporting a downtown option as a critical element for Carroll Creek area development.

Singapore High School stadium press box collapse hints at failure

Frank Dertzbaugh of Mount Airy based Dertzbaugh Construction and Singanore Boosters Club volunteers labored last week to renovate the stadium press box. The third floor partially collapsed during lifting on Friday morning, a structural failure or cracking noted by Dertzbaugh.
