Andrew slams Florida heads for Gulf Coast area
Hurricane Andrew smashed ashore south of Miami with 160 mph winds. At least two people died in Dade County. By 8 a.m. the storm moved into the Gulf of Mexico heading toward between Mobile and Port Arthur, potentially affecting New Orleans. Gov. Lawton Chiles said damage and casualties may be limited, but hundreds of thousands fled while many rode it out. A single vehicle crash near Sharpsburg early Monday morning killed a 13 year old. Police reported the driver D Allen Hubbard of Mon Lean to Ma 28 was eastbound when the car left the road. Officers said the deceased was pronounced dead at the scene.
