County May Cut Free Dumping At Reichs Ford Road Landfill
Frederick County commissioners will vote Tuesday on lowering the minimum chargeable dumping weight from one ton to one half ton at Reichs Ford Road landfill. Solid waste manager Al Tavares says many commercial haulers use under one ton to avoid charges, with about 5000 tons dumped in loads under a ton in early 1990. If approved, the change takes effect after filing and aims to curb free dumping while sparing occasional homeowner loads.
