Myersville Youth Killed In West Oak Ridge Drive Crash

A Myersville teenager, Robert Lee Wise UH, 18, of 2424 Canada Hull Road, died Sunday night in a single vehicle crash on West Oak Ridge Drive west of Md 65 in Washington County. Police cited speed and driver error on wet roads. Wise was the sole occupant. The accident occurred at 8:35 p.m. near Hagerstown city limits.

Pacifists arrested at Site R protest in Maryland

Three Maryland pacifists were arrested for blocking Site R entrance near Emmitsburg during a Hiroshima Nagasaki anniversary protest. Elizabeth Small and Richard Ochs, from Taneytown, posted bail and await arraignment Aug 14 in Pennsylvania. The group called Site R obsolete and urged shutdown.

Reunion at Site R peace rally echoes past protest

GETTYSBURG A peace rally at Site R turned into a reunion of sorts as Elizabeth and James Small were arrested again along with Richard Ochs after they refused to move from the protest area. Trooper Kenneth Zeisloft said he had arrested the Smalls at last year’s demonstration outside the underground Pentagon. The event marked the Hiroshima Nagasaki memorial, organized by the Central Maryland Justice and Peace Committee and the Peace Resource Center, with last year’s arrests totaling seven for trespassing at the Site R gates.

Students urged to pursue science careers nationwide
