Rioting in Joliet IL today left Special Agent Philip Reitz of the Elgin Joliet and Eastern Railroad dead and a striker wounded while Sheriff James Newkirk was seriously hurt. About 500 men, mostly foreigners, gathered near a car painter’s home during the strike. shots rang out and state troops were requested as local authorities could not control the scene.

Parking Plan At Montgomery County Fair Slated

Auto Skids and Crashes Near Ridgeville Report
Four people escaped unharmed when a five passenger Dodge touring car skidded on a wet road west of Ridgeville at 10 30 this morning, hit a telephone pole and overturned. The Schram family from Cumberland were returning home from Washington when the crash occurred. Only minor scratches were reported to the driver, and the car was badly damaged with a broken windshield and demolished top. The vehicle was towed to a garage and the family continued home by rail.

Watch and Money Taken at Hood College Site
On Friday a tool room at Hood College construction was entered and a watch plus 13 dollars were stolen. Hubert Redmond and Lawrence Winpigler were arrested. Winpigler claimed he found the watch and gave it to his father. Deputy Sheriff Smith learned Winpigler was targeting neighborhood youths. both 14 year olds were brought before Justice J Grahame Johnson and reprimanded. Goods were recovered. Winpigler released to his father. Redmond exonerated by Winpigler.

Officers seize wine and raid. mislocated still found
