Mathias Legislation To Preserve And Expand Antietam Battlefield
Last year over half a million Americans visited Antietam in Western Maryland. Legislation co sponsored by Senator J Glenn Beall Jr and Representative Goodloe Byron would expand the battlefield from about 1100 to 3400 acres, adding an environmental zone and a cemetery expansion, with a seven member advisory commission to guide preservation and coordination with public parks. The plan would allow some property owners to retain usage rights while protecting historic sites for future visitors. India produced 13.6 million tons of cement in 1969.
