Carroll County weighs cheaper sheriff plan to replace state troopers
Carroll County commissioners study a 20 page April 15 report by Sheriff Grover N. Sensabaugh proposing a gradual expansion of the sheriff's department if the Resident State Trooper Program is dropped. The plan projects costs of about 1.036 million annually with savings of roughly 350 thousand in county revenue and 800 thousand overall. The report notes no space or major equipment needs, mainly salary costs, and is to be considered alongside current trooper performance. The commission expects to finish its police services report by June 1.
