Naming a City Sedalia From Sedville to Sedalia

Born in Virginia and raised in Kentucky, he settled near Georgetown and built part of the Missouri Pacific railway route. After considering Sedville for a name in honor of his daughter, a friend suggested Sedalia, and the town officially formed when the Smith family moved there in 1850.
