State to Fix Dog Damages Operative June First
George A Raffensperger field agent for the bureau of animal industry in the state department of agriculture in Adams Franklin and Cumberland counties called attention to a new bill signed by Governor Pinchot. Starting June 1 all appraisals of livestock damage by dogs must be made by an agriculture department agent replacing township auditors and justices. The state no longer pays auditors’ appraisals, and Raffensperger estimated at least 1000 dollars a year will be saved in his three counties. He spoke at the courthouse Monday morning, still on crutches from a March Hershey Park crash, and expects to resume full duties by July 1.
