Nakusp and Slocan Railway progress update
Chief Engineer Osler announced that the most laborious parts of the Nakusp and Slocan Railway are finished including clearing right of way grading rock cutting and bridging. Track laying is expected to resume by April or May and the line should be finished by late June or July. Snow slides pose no spring danger and depots freight sheds and section houses remain to be planned. As snow melts workers will begin installing sidings and switches probably in early April.

Citizens of Nakusp organized to enhance mail delivery after authorities refused improvements. A subscription by T Abriel raised funds to pay for extra weekly mail by steamer W Hunter and stage driver J Walsh through April 1.
