Slocan prospects praised by visitor from Spokane

E. W. Rowe lauds Slocan country as in better shape with over 2,000 tons shipped and larger spring shipments expected. Kaslo and Slocan mines expand. 20 silver properties active with more nearby. Ainsworth concentrator to finish in spring. Kaslo-Slocan Railway due by August, potentially narrow gauge. St Marys country to be opened next season. Davie town site laid out 25 miles from Kaslo named for the province’s premier.

Great Northern Movements Near Kaslo Ore Route

C H Weeks of the Great Northern Railway reports 75 tons daily of high grade ore entering Kaslo from the Slocan district and shipped toward Nelson. Ore valued at 150 to 1000 oz silver and 35 to 75 percent lead. Hauling costs 25 to 40 dollars per ton to Kaslo. A Kaslo to Three Forks railroad, 28 miles, is planned for next spring under GN influence. If not built GN may run boats on Kootenay river for ore shipments.
