The establishment reports a well supplied bar with a steady stock of wires liquor and cigars ready for patrons.
Madden House in Nakusp British Columbia advertises a lake shore location at the entrance to the Slocan mines and New Denver. It touts fishing hunting boating and sketching for tourists and artists with hotel amenities and a bar offering top brands of wines liquors and cigars.
Victoria February 16. The Redistribution Bill dominates the legislature with 83 members and the Mainland gaining two seats at Vancouver Island's expense. The West Kootenay district is split into northern and southern ridings with Nakusp and New Denver placed accordingly, altering voting strength though equal representation.
The public school board, including McDougald Jordan and Muirhead, met in T Abriel’s office to audit accounts and prepare a statement on the building fund. The board approved presenting accounts to Auditor Abriel and sending copies to Superintendent Pope and THE Leper, plus a vote of thanks to D McGillivray for his stove donation. Also reports of Sunday services, upcoming visits, and local lake ice thaw aiding vessel resumption, plus a Nakusp birth and transport updates from Vancouver Revelstoke to head of the lake.
Fire in Kaslo destroyed nearly all buildings along Front Street between Third and Fourth, igniting after 1 45 am at the Bon Ton restaurant. Wind and explosions from gunpowder at Byers hardware worsened loss, with little insurance valid. Rebuilding urged for Arch ie Fletcher and N Giegerich others face uncertain futures. Police detain several for stealing goods during the alarm.
