West Kootenay member J M Kellie pushes three resolutions in the Legislature seeking removal of navigation obstructions at Death Rapids to Revelstoke, a colonized call for a resident county judge, and repeal or reduction of a five dollar per acre payment on mining claims in the 20 mile belt. Kellie also backs a bill for tramway telegraph and telephone company incorporation and supports a measure to cut duties on rubber goods and mining machinery.
Provincial Officer Fauquier reports the disappearance of a Swede named Jensen. Last seen over a week ago leaving the Leland House after a brief stop, then at the Prospect House where he drew more than $40 from Mr Nault before heading toward town center. No trace since, sobriety at the time noted, fate uncertain whether he left town or wandered into the woods.
Fletcher and Farwell sued McGillivray and Croft over lot 549 in New Denver townsite Kootenay district. The court granted an injunction, then dissolved it by consent decree, awarding eight lots per block to the plaintiffs with each party covering own costs and the defendant paying surveying costs.
The pro secutor J Hector reported from Nelson after a new trial against Sondholm. Chief witnesses T Peterson and A Carlson accompanied him. Sandholm appeared before G M Sproatt who committed him to stand trial at the next Assizes in June. Government lack of legal literature cited as a reason for grievances.
