Fire rages through several towns burning homes and businesses while humidity falls and visibility drops. Edgar and two children are reported among those affected as forest service crews battle the blazes and relief is provided by county volunteers assisting firefighting efforts.
Judge McLain addressed the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce detailing county warrants, a refinancing strategy, and the costs of delaying vote until primaries. He described idle land farm ideas and discussed funding for the Mettle Point high school football program and local projects.

The Myrtle Point Woman's Club gathered about 40 members at City Hall for an antennoble program. A Junior Women’s Club plan was discussed, a committee chair was named, and a call roll praised household conveniences. Mrs Barker presented a Home themed program while Mr LaFlamme spoke on trees from forests. Poems on home and Edgar Guest’s Home featured, with songs and a social tea. Next gathering set for October 28 with Mrs Floyd Summers organizing.

Six Myrtle Point FFA members Verlin Hermann Earl Hoover James Hoover Sam Dement Ernest Bryant and R W Schaad join over 90 high schools at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition in Portland. More than 500 Future Farmers will attend with five states represented at the public speaking contest and a $150 cash prize for top members from Oregon Washington and Idaho.
R. R. Cars collide head on just below Coquille on Wednesday. F. Murray’s car was forced off the track and he sustained a broken left wrist severe leg lacerations and a bruised left side. He was rushed to Knife Hospital for treatment.
Hiland theater hosts a two day vaudeville program next Wednesday featuring the Kentucky Coon Hunters and the Big City Girl Revue. National radio and vaudeville stars headline with new wardrobe and a fresh act on tour through Myrtle Point.

Robert Palmer of Gaylord sustained head injuries last Thursday when a sapling struck him on the forehead while working at Camp 2. He was rushed by ambulance to a hospital where the injuries were not serious and he returned home Monday.
