Powers City Hosts Second White Cedar Days Bicentennial Celebration
Powers City planners organized a lively Bicentennial event with races for children a street dance barbecue and logging contests at Powers County Park. Loggers and non loggers competed in key throw boom run and Jack and Jill sawing contests drawing a large crowd and about 1500 dollars for the Powers Ambulance Service. Wilma Wiwatowski served as White Cedar Days Queen and helped serve barbecue on Sunday.

A five week tuition free Sign Workshop at Southwestern Oregon Community College begins July 12. Diamond Ed of Oregon County Returns With Lost Diamonds
Ed Huntley known as Diamond Ed in Eastern Oregon was a traveling clothing drummer famed for diamond brocade on his shirt. After two highwaymen attacked him in 1892 and years of searching, he met a Portland man offering “lost items” and exchanged diamonds for a $2000 finder’s fee. The swap restored Ed’s $18,000 in diamonds and watch and chain.
