Budgets Fail In Coquille And Myrtle Point Elections
Coquille and Bandon voters rejected several district budgets while Myrtle Point and Powers approved theirs in Tuesday special elections. Myrtle Point passed School District 41 with 420 yes to 348 no for a $1,083,725.07 budget. Powers School District 31 budget reached 106 yes and 66 no for about $197,000. Coquille city and school budgets were defeated, 396 to 318 and 619 to 510 respectively, with Coos Bay also voting down school and city measures. Green Acres Rural Fire District approved 52 to 42. County breakdowns show mixed results across precincts and absentee ballots.
