Coos Bay Man Charged After Courthouse Shootout
Harvey Colton 21 was arrested after a five hour manhunt following a noon courthouse shootout in Coquille. Deputies chased him from the Coos County Courthouse as doors were damaged and glass shattered. He fled to 200 block Fort Dean Street ending in a basement surrender. Police seek charges of escape in the first degree and attempted murder.

Coquille Man Drowns In River Near Clausen Road
A 32 year old Coquille man Geronia Jerry Fields drowned Saturday afternoon in the Coquille River near Clausen Road after being swept by a swift out tide. His body was found at 9:15 p.m. following a two hour search by Lt. Ronald Capps and volunteers. The incident, reported at 7:10 p.m. by two swimmers, is under investigation and tentatively ruled an accidental drowning. His companions, Danny Ray Fields and Elbert Lewis Jennings, attempted rescues as Fields drifted from the anchored boat. The event ended after a lengthy river search before authorities were notified.
