Oregon lawmakers tackle simplifying the state’s intricate school system. The Holy report urges elective state board members, appointed superintendents, county director elections, centralized purchasing, and three-year county reorganization plans with data-driven oversight.

Funeral services for William Francis Miller who died January 16 at Clymer Nursing Home Coquille were held January 20 at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev William Barnet officiating. Burial followed at Fishtrap cemetery. Miller born January 18, 1861 in Josephine County Oregon had lived in the Coquille valley for 60 years and was survived by a son Fred of Sutherlin three daughters Iva Sutherlin Hazel Barklow and Na Barklow two sons Robert of Sweet Home Jess of Portland sisters Grace Lane Seaside Minnie Clinton Etta McNair Maude Paull and Sarah Int Vancouver Washington and 12 grandchildren.
