Myrtle Point and District 41 officials prepare two Parent Advisory Meetings on May 4 to gauge community views on curriculum priorities. Residents worry over a new high English program and whether traditional skills or newer goal oriented methods should lead MP schools.
The Myrtle Point community invites all residents to a Monday gathering at Myrtle Crest to plan the upcoming summer Bicentennial celebration led by Bud Bick and his sub-chairman. Donor support and broad input from all town segments are urged to ensure a successful observance.
Pete Nightengale announces he will resign as superintendent of Powers School District No. 31 at the end of the school year after eight years with the district. He will become head of science at Powers High School and will remain until a replacement is hired, with June 18 target for filling the post.
Chuck Lyons and Barbara Mansker, both of Myrtle Point, were married Saturday April 17 in the Coquille Community Building. They plan a Reno honeymoon and will live at 1027 18th, Myrtle Point. Lyons works in the service department at Southwestern Motors in Coquille. Barbara works at Security Bank in Myrtle Point. Dean Mason officiated. Del Mansker gave the bride away. Cheryl Mansker was maid of honor.
