The Department of Education plans a complete survey of Salem High School to evaluate instruction and facilities. The visit will include classroom observations and equipment checks, starting next Monday for several days. Mary Margaret Woodward will teach Linn's mathematics classes during his absence.
More than 20 high school students will compete in the 18th annual high school typing contest and the ninth annual shorthand contest at Oregon State College on Saturday April 20. R K R Yarner Dallas superintendent will speak at a luncheon for visitors and awards will be presented by H T Vance head of the secretarial science department. An exhibit of office equipment and appliances will be shown with 21 national manufacturers cooperating.
Retates House residents Mr and Mrs Frank Young learned that Mrs Youngs sister Miss Margaret Saunders of Renton Washington was seriously ill. They traveled northward and visited several of Mrs Youngs relatives before returning home Monday evening.
