The Louisa County 4H club will hold Rally Night Monday June 16 at 730 p m in the Wapello High School building. Watch out for bites from buffalo gnats a small black two winged insect. Entomologist Harold Gunderson says bites sting after about an hour with swarms in May or June and sometimes appear away from streams. Repellents like DEET work and, if community outbreaks occur, DDT or naled can control them. Separate note: ASC Chairman Carter discusses April price support loan activity showing remaining loaned corn soybeans and wheat under loan and repayments.

Two Iowa pork groups hire fieldman for swine program
Kenneth Kohl of Lisbon will become the first fieldman for the Iowa Pork Investors Club and will work half time for the Iowa Pork Producers. A ISU animal science graduate, Kohl will assist 82 counties with promotions and production projects, promote seed stock testing, and expand participation in the Nickels for Profit program. He starts June 1.

The Iowa Farm Bureau announces a joint program with the American Farm Bureau to honor outstanding young Farm Bureau members. State winners selected by external judges will be honored at the November convention, with top Iowa entrants advancing to national competition for expense paid trips to the December 1969 American Farm Bureau convention in Washington, D C. Entries must be received by October 10 at the state bureau.
