Journal carriers take Florida trip as top salesmen
Four Muscatine Journal carrier salesmen and assistant circulation manager Terry Christian depart for a weekend in Florida. They won the trip for selling magazines through the Church-Richards Company of Chicago. The group, including Jim Tutt and Steve Fullman, travels by chartered bus with 50 other carriers to Cocoa Beach, staying at the Ramada Inn. They tour Cape Kennedy with NASA on Friday and return Saturday afternoon.

Boat Safety Week to Offer Free Programs in Rock Island
Ray Peak, 55, was fined $25 after a 6 p.m. accident damaged a boat and two cars near West Mississippi Drive and Pine Street. The crash involved a tow boat and Marvin Cooley’s car. another driver, Thomas Wilder, was fined $5 for failing to keep his vehicle under control after striking Florence Carnari’s car. The Corps of Engineers announced Safe Boating Week programs with a Coast Guard film and panel discussion, led by Major John M. Daugherty, in Rock Island Illinois.

The library releases a printed summer events schedule for all ages. Registrations are open this week for Happenings a special enrichment program for children entering 4th to 6th grades. Story hours in Spanish occur on three Saturdays, puppet programs on three different Saturday times, and pre school story hours every Thursday at 10 AM. Family Film Nights continue on the last Friday of each month.
