Chamber Directors Elect Leaders And Set Plans

Lake County Chamber of Commerce installs C Brown as president for a third term, J R Ashmore as vice president, and W J Rogers as treasurer. New directors include Alfred Rehbaum and others from Mount Dora, Leesburg, Clermont, Tavares, Howey, and South Clermont. Old members return, and the bass pond study shifts to a Leesburg lake. The association plans pig program funding, 4H farm projects, and a July Florida Grape Growers meeting in Orlando.

Bank opens in West Palm Beach with $100000 capital

West Palm Beach bank and trust company announces capital of 100000 to open in the city. In Wauchula markets 46 carloads of cucumbers and tomatoes were shipped in a recent week. Fort Pierce reports tomato shipments reaches total loads to date.

Mount Dora to Offer Beautification Prize

At a town council meeting on Wednesday night Mount Dora discussed making the town more beautiful. A prize for the most beautiful and best kept grounds was approved with a $100 appropriation. The Knights of Pythias appointed a civic committee led by W M Wingler to plan the beautification campaign and prize distribution.

Sunshine Branch Continues Quiet Charity Work

The Fanny Crosby Sunshine Society of Mount Dora led by founder and chair Miss Adelia Avery remains active. It sends funds and bedding to the blind babies and Jackson ville Children's home, and recently delivered two handmade quilts and three quilted pillows. Local cheer comes from messages and flowers to shut-ins, with the branch named after Fannie Crosby.

Sportsmen urged to discriminate in killing birds

Tung Oil May Be Coming Industry

Tung Oil Industry Center Emerges at Clermont

Trim bey Properties plans a Tung Oil hub at Clermont led by S. H. Bowman. The project includes several hundred acres planted this season, three nurseries, a forty acre Demonstration Farm, and a modern extracting mill. Lake County aims to become a major producer with thousands of acres, creating jobs and boosting local wealth. Tung Oil is a major U S chemical import used in spar varnish linoleum enamel and paints.
