M. C. Scofield announces his bid to become Citrus County judge saying the office has never been held there. He will base a headquarters in Ocala, spend three days weekly there, visit Inverness and Brooksville once weekly, and continue living at Inverness.
P. E. HO thanks Lake County friends for vote and support in the May 3 primary. He pledges friendship and continued effort for better county conditions and a richer life, and says he will visit again to stay in close touch with residents and their concerns.

Frank F Rehbaum of Clearwater dies from a self inflicted gunshot wound in his home. He was manager of West Coast Hardware Company and survived by his widow Inez, two children Patricia and Frank Jr., his mother and three brothers. Funeral services were held at Moss notable for his Mount Dora connections.
Dr Michael Peech a soil chemist at the Citrus Experiment Station will address the Lake County Horticultural Association board at their monthly meeting Monday May 16. He will discuss Chemical Common of Citrus Soils with no reference to grave examined in Lake County and has spent the last year analyzing citrus soils with many samples from local groves. All growers are invited to attend.

At a Leesburg Townsend Club meeting in City Hall J Tom Watson was endorsed for State Supreme Court. Eugene Matthews and M C Scofield, running in the first primary, were endorsed in the run-off. The club asks Townsendites and friends to support these candidates. Scofield and Matthews are longtime club members noted for loyalty to the cause.
Arthur Ward Bertine a lifelong Mount Vernon New York coal merchant died of a heart attack Tuesday May 10 at Lake County Medical Center Umatilla. He was a Mason Shriner and winter resident of Mount Dora with plans to build there. Survived by widow Wilhelmina and son Arthur M Bertine of Portland Oregon. Funeral service at Rehbaum Funeral Home conducted by Masons, remains to Mount Vernon for interment.
