Tangerine Notes Highlight Local Visits and Meetings

Recent guests included Mr and Mrs Thomas Kimberly of Akron Ohio visiting Sebring. Mrs Wilbur Welsh returned from Rochelle Park New Jersey and attended a 67th wedding anniversary celebration. Tangerine Improvement Society met in Community Hall with a sing along led by W R Sayrs and piano by Mrs Kenneth Maglathlin. The Tangerine Church Woman's Society heard a talk on The Signs and Symbols of Christianity with the Lord's Prayer read in translation. Refreshments were served by hostesses Christina Durnford and others.

Jewish Religious Art Display At Maitland Center

Maitland Center presents a March exhibition of Jewish religious art from the Jewish Museum of the Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati. Also on display is a tetrahedral research satellite measuring six and a half inches per side weighing one and a half pounds with a 40 inch antenna. The space craft studies radiation damage to silicon solar cells and space environment effects. The museum will be closed March 23 to 31 for new exhibits setup at 810 East Rollins Ave Orlando and Maitland Research Center 301 West Packwood Ave Maitland.

Harry Fogg Recalls Mount Dora Church History for Presbyterians

Harry Fogg spoke to the Presbyterian Men on Mount Dora history noting the 1953 mission of Rev. C. A. Carrier to establish a church and the 1960 completion of the current structure. He cited the 1954 purchase of the L. T. Todd home, once used as a church, and described Rev. Kenneth W. Book’s Pennsylvania roots and seminary training. Richard Phillips ended with a piano solo.

Health Forum on Tuberculosis Set for Lake County

A countywide Health Forum on respiratory disease will be held Tuesday night March 17 at 8 in Mount Dora Community Building. Five physicians will discuss tuberculosis emphysema bronchitis asthma and related diseases with a Q&A session. The event features a pulmonary function test demonstration and details on an April X-ray survey.
