Atlanta Symphony in Lake County Benefit Draws 700 Fans

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Shaw performed at the Lake County Expo Building in Eustis last Friday for a Waterman Memorial Hospital benefit. Over 700 attendees witnessed a one week Georgia Florida tour with Edith Kraft at the piano and a Sibelius Finlandia encore, though the overall concert produced little profit for the hospital. Acoustics were better than expected in the Expo Building, but Shaw’s Eroica reading felt lacking in heroism and the finale uplifted the crowd despite a mostly somber note.
