A new Farmers Home Administration loan program offers up to 2500 dollars to farm families with limited incomes in Lake County. Eligible applicants must be farmers with earnings insufficient for basic living and unable to obtain credit elsewhere. Loans may fund livestock, machinery, buildings, operating costs, debt refinance, land purchases, or shares in rural cooperatives, with terms up to 15 years at about 4.125 percent. County supervisors will assist with planning, and loans for nonagricultural enterprises may also be available. Mills of the Lake County Juvenile Court told the Tavares Women’s Club that 1964 saw only about one and a half percent of Lake County schoolchildren cited for delinquent acts, far below the national average of three percent.
