The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce held a membership drive kickoff breakfast at Villa Dora Hotel at 8 am. The goal is 100 new members. Chairman Al Rehbaum Jr. said reaching the target would provide $1,000 for additional highway signs to boost tourism and local appeal.

Mount Dora Chamber Elects Six Directors

The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce elected Roy Christopher Eugene Moss Al Rehbaum Jr Sam Shaw Lewis Shipley and Jack Simpson as directors at its annual meeting held Saturday night at the Community Building. William H. Dial president of the First National Bank of Orlando spoke to about 150 attendees and urged growth in Central Florida noting future projects will affect more than one county and calling for paced progress.

Seventh District Jaycee Caucus Held Here Is Termed Big Success

The Mount Dora Jaycees hosted the Seventh District winter caucus drawing about 100 visiting Jaycees and dignitaries in what organizers called the biggest and most successful caucus ever held. E. E. Wyn Brown announced as candidate for state vice president. elections set for the spring caucus in May. Ken Hine won District Golf Tournament first place earning a Nassau trip. Cotton Bradley low gross. Jerry Wilkins top in Flight A. Clarence Wigelsworth and others won Class B honors. Local leaders presented progress reports while state and national officers praised the district’s performance. Mayor Jesse Willmott welcomed guests. door prize winners included Nassau trips.

Mount Dora native Donald L. Dake named airman of the quarter at the 726th U.S. Air Force Dispensary in Athens Greece for superior duties. Lt. Col. E. F. Massed Lake County bands slated for Washington Birthday fete

The Lake County Band Boosters Assn plans a first time massed band concert after the Washington Birthday parade in Eustis Ferran Park. Over 500 students from Mount Dora Groveland Tavares Clermont Eustis Leesburg will perform. The association formed in 1964 aims to make this an annual event with officers Clayton Peck Stephen Vaughn Mrs John Speer and Mrs Raymond Bailey in leadership roles.

Lake Delegation Schedules Hearings On County Bills

The Lake County legislative delegation will hold hearings on local bills at 7 30 p m March 8 9 and 10 at the Courthouse in Tavares. Sen Welborn C Daniel of Clermont and Rep W H Bill Reedy of Eustis announced the hearings to discuss bills pertaining to Lake County slated for introduction in the 1965 Florida Legislature.
