Youth Rally Planned At First Baptist Church

The Lake County Baptist Association will host its first youth rally Saturday at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Open to single youths ages 13 to 24. Steve Bilkerson of Stetson University will speak, with music by Central Baptist Church Leesburg and Ken Steele directing. Plans for future programs were also announced.

Museum in Orlando to Feature Artist Head Hunting Work

Central Florida Museum hosts Hester Merwin Ayers in February with Head Hunting With Crayon. Ayers, of New Smyrna Beach, known for portraits and murals, shows crayon portraits and native artifacts. some drawings travel to the Smithsonian. Chamber of Commerce Kickoff Breakfast Announced

The 1965 Chamber membership drive begins with a breakfast on February 11 at 8 a.m. in the Villa Dora Hotel. Chair Al Rehbaum Jr. aims for 100 new memberships and a $1,000 increase to fund a scenic Mount Dora highway sign rather than a standard directional sign. Nine Building Permits Issued In January

City issued nine building permits in January totaling 22 250 dollars. Building Inspector John Cain reported. In January 1964 nine permits were issued with a total valuation of 59 700 dollars and no new homes were started that month, Cain said.

City approves 15794 for bucket truck purchase

City Council approved spending 15 794.69 for a bucket truck to maintain utility lines and aid tree trimming. The higher bid was accepted over a cheaper option after a recommendation by Utility Supt B C Thompson and Utility Dept Chairman Gordon Dake who said the chosen truck better serves city needs.

Unemployment Drops in Florida in December 1964

State figures show unemployment at 66,100 in December 1964, the lowest since 1957, with 3.1 percent of the labor force unemployed, the smallest December rate since 1956. Nonfarm employment rose to a record 1,569,500 for the month.

Bailey to Dedicate New LSJC Buildings at Silver Lake
