Funny Face the tame lake duck rules Major Shires’ boat days
A Florida Lake shore tale recounts Major Henry Shires feeding a growing flock of ducks led by a bold shire named Funny Face. The birds nest across large distances and even ride along on the Major’s fishing boat enjoying meals and attention from their human benefactor. The column also offers Q and A notes on duck longevity and local birdhouse tenants.
