Mount Dora celebrated its 60th anniversary with a small ceremony in front of city hall. Archive photos show the town’s early wooden buildings dirt roads and chugging automobiles. Today parts of the town still feature the same wooden storefronts and light poles amid civic groups like the Citizens Committee.
Lake County schools will bring teams to the fourth annual Interscholastic Play Festival in Mount Dora April 23 26 with IceHouse Players hosting. Dr Clyde Stevens commends the festival for boosting self concept practical communication skills and appreciation of drama among county youth.

Mount Dora Lake County Duplicate Bridge Club played a Mitchell game on March 23 at Bank of Mount Dora. North South winners included Ed Dean team and C J Sparks team with several local pairs placing. East West top finishers featured Frank Boli, Bernard Stone and others from Tavares Leesburg Mount Dora. Also announced are a Boy Scout Troop 19 Spaghetti Supper at Mount Dora High School March 4 to 7 p.m. donations 150 Carryout available. Retired Citizens Club meets April 3 at noon for a cooperative luncheon at the Community Building. Mount Dora Extension Homemakers meet April 8 at 9:30 a.m. for a workshop with a 1 p.m. program on Seafood chaired by Della Videto and Florence Fisk.
