A small gathering on Mount Dora City Hall front porch last week celebrated the 60th anniversary of the city. Mount Dora High School Band performed as Dan Bishop Emma Tallant long time residents spoke with council members Al Rehbaum III Ty Parker Mrs John Murray and Chamber president P J Pettyjohn in the background.
Dorans dominate Lake County Flower Show at Lake County Fair with top honors in multiple classes. Winners include Mrs. Ralph C. Paul and Mrs. R W Fogarty earning Tricolor Awards, J G Ray for top Tricolor Table Arrangement, Connie Kelly and Robert Mackey Gold Seals in youth divisions, and numerous Blue Red Yellow and White ribbons across Artistic Design and Horticulture.
Sixteen classes registered for the Annual Mount Dora All Class Regatta on April 4 and 5. Races start at 1 p.m. on Saturday with heats at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, and third and fourth heats Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. A Saturday night yacht club dance accompanies the event. Classes include Catamaran Flying Dutchman Thistle Lightening Sail Area over 150 Windmill Fireball Y Fly er 505 U.S. Mono Sail Area under 150 Scorpion Starfish Canoe Pram and Sun Fish.
