Mr and Mrs Edgar Henrichs honored their son Ralph with a party on Armistice Day for his third birthday. Seventeen children attended and enjoyed sandwiches cake cookies potato chips fries and drinks. The birthday cake was yellow blue and white with three candles. Balloons and small balls served as favors while mothers of the guests looked on.
A group of guests gathered Thursday November 5 to honor Mr and Mrs Frank Kouba on their 25th wedding anniversary with lunch featuring sandwiches cake pies cookies strudel coffee and soda. A three tiered white iced cake with silver trim was made at the request of their son and daughter in law Erwin Kouba of San Diego California. Attendees included Emil Jalufka Alfred Brosch Eugene Mig and families and other relatives.
Waelder public scales area to host a tomato shed as preparations finish. Growers prep soil and set hot beds and plants for an early crop, with work advancing on the right of way near the scales.
Ed and wife observed their 14th wedding anniversary in Flatonia on a Saturday. A 6:30 p.m. anniversary supper featured barbequed beef with sides and beverages. Numerous relatives and friends attended to offer congratulations and gifts.
Leaguers on page 1 urged followers to strengthen faith and courage to stand for Christ outside church walls as well as within.
Miss Effie Sawey of Houston spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Adella Sawey and the Sawey family.
Twenty nine members and Rev. Windecker attended the Lutheran Ladies Aid meeting on Thursday November 5. Mrs Bertha Scott led the study book reading and the Rev Windeker gave a farewell prayer. The group will sponsor the Lutheran Standard Drive with Mrs Scott as chair. A new clothing shipment will be made soon and donations may be brought to the Educational Building. President Alma Halliburton wished success and God’s blessing to Rev Windeker in his new parish. Committees were named for Flowers Sick Membership Hostesses and presiding during the social hour.
Mr and Mrs Herbert Ray Haase Marvin Haase Jr and Marie Lawey of Moulton visited Houston Sunday touring the battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Monument then went to Playland Park returning late Sunday saying they had a wonderful time Luther League met Nov 9 with Rev Windecker leading a discussion on The Luther League Emblem Kaylene Wachendorf read minutes Kerwyn Pietsch collected clues an appreciation gift of a Ronson cigarette lighter was presented to Rev Windecker Names were drawn for the Christmas Party Ethel Hafernick and Ora Nell Findeisen served cake sandwiches and soda water
The St Joseph Altar Society met for its regular monthly session on Thursday November 12 at 2 30 p m in the parish hall with President Mrs Joe Heger in charge. Members praised the Mexican supper and games party held at the VFW Hall on November 10 and the coffee urn gift noted as useful. Hostesses for the next meeting were Mrs E E Darilek Mrs Jim Kouba Mrs A J Darilek Mrs Ed Maresh Mrs Edwin Darilek and Mrs Jacob Kurtz. Father Matocha spoke on Garden Hints for an Organization and a lunch was served after.
Mr and Mrs E F Gummelt of Houston welcomed a baby girl Mary Beth weighing 8 lbs 11 oz born on November 11. She has one brother and one sister. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Gus Gummelt near Moulton. Wiley Haas visited in Walter Haas home before his induction into the armed forces. The Steinocher family of El Cam visited Jacob Steinocher family.
Mr and Mrs Wiley Haas and Miss Joycelyn Haas visited in the Edmund Haas home in San Antonio Thursday night.

A gathering of Taft Schulenburg Cuero LaGrange Columbus Menard and Houston residents visited in San Marcos and Houston. Families linked to the Hoepfl and Welff households attended the St. Rose of Lima versus St. Peter's parish football title game, won 32 to 0 by St. Rose of Lima with Eugene Hoepfl starring as tackle.
In Memoriam for William Hoepfl who died October 29 1953 as a member and friend of Mozart Lodge No 59 Moulton Texas. Lodge extends sympathy to his family and prays he rests in peace. Committee members listed include Wm Schodde Emil Muehlstein Henry Wenske and others. note of travel to San Antonio for Tuesday activities.
Mr and Mrs Albert Heiman of Angleton Mrs Frank Heiman of Danbury Mrs Henry Malinek and children Sydney John and Cindy visited with Mr and Mrs Fred Osterloh in New Braunfels several days last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Gray of Dallas spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Vladik Steinacher. Mrs. E Janszen and daughter Miss Leona Janszen of Moulton and Mrs. Otto Jansze of Flatonia attended the Golden Wedding anniversary of Mrs. E Janszen's brother Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thuemler in Hostyn recently.
Robert Gene Brom and Mrs Margaret Kubecka Brom welcome a bouncing baby boy born Tuesday November 3 at Shiner hospital. The couple already has two boys and a girl.
Miss Ethlyn Rose Freytag spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Rud Freytag. Mrs Harlan Knesek returned home to Houston after a week with her parents Mr and Mrs Joe Holub.
Mr. Frank Wagner and son Frank Jr. spent the weekend in San Antonio. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schodde of Cuero were here last week. Angleton residents spent part of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Malinek. Mrs. Frank Heiman of Danbury visited Emma Rosenauer for several days.
Mrs. Walter Haas and Mrs. Laddie Maresh joined Mrs. Wiley Haas for a trip to Houston Friday. Maresh and Walter Haas returned on Saturday.
A baby girl named Melanie Gail Bartek was born at Weimar Hospital on November 6 to Mr and Mrs Alfons Bartek of Flatonia. The newborn weighs 7 pounds 4 ounces. She is the Bartek family's fifth child. Mrs Bartek was previously Dolores Ducho.
