Runaway mule team halted by parade marshal in Alvin
Galveston readers recall a near disaster at the Frontier Day parade in Alvin as a powerful mule team pulling a covered wagon bolted through crowds. Parade Marshal Tom Hicks on horseback intervened, stopping the team and likely preventing injuries. The note also reflects on prior Department of Agriculture rice policy rumors and a planned Houston visit by Secretary Benson, which did not occur.
