Soil Spray Could Curb Texas Erosion
University of Texas Bureau of Business Research forecasts major gains for Texas farmers from a Dowell Dow Chemical spray that forms a hard crust over soil to resist erosion and aid water permeation. Laboratory and field tests continue with a three day curing period. Initial field tests show a 1.5 inch rain after application posed no harm as water passed through the crust. Farmers presently rely on deep plowing to combat wind erosion at about ten dollars per acre with no guaranteed results.
