Antel Brunkenhoefer was chosen valedictorian with a 92.25 average for the 1955 Moulton High School graduating class. Margie Pavlicek will deliver the salutatory address after posting a 91.34 average.

Eighteen candidates from the eighth grade of St. Josephs School will receive their diplomas Sunday morning at the 9 o'clock Mass in St. Josephs Church. Names will be published next week. The school closed Tuesday for the 1954 55 term and grade students began vacation. First graders received their First Holy Communion Tuesday morning.
Lavaca County farmers receive 114 additional acres from the Agricultural Adjustment Act amendment. Notices were mailed May 11 1955. Producers may release unused acreage by June 1 1955 at the County ASC Office. Fred Henneke, Lavaca County ASC chairman, notes released acres aid others while preserving peanut history.
Jimmie Luksovsky a World War III veteran and Pearl distributor employee leases space in the J T Jaeglé Building across from Joe s Chevrolet Sales. The Western Auto Store plans to open by mid June with the new business congratulating Jimmie.
The Class of 1955 holds Baccalaureate services in the Moulton High School Gymnasium on Sunday May 22 1955 at 8 15 P M The program includes March Romaine processional invocation song In The Garden introduction of guest speaker sermon You Are Important song Fairest Lord Jesus announcements benediction recessional and choir performances by the Girls Chorus Junior Class and Senior Class directed by Supt J W Pyland Reverend Julius F Holm and Rev Alois provide the program details.
Poultrymen Lindsey and Kahanek from Lavaca County tested egg cooling methods with Texas A. and M. College engineers. Mechanical cooling yielded higher Grade A eggs and better returns across marketing schedules, while evaporative and no cooling performed worse.
The Moulton VFW Auxiliary held a convention at Range High School Gym electing four district officers including Junior Vice President Georgie Meyer Chaplain Lexie Boehm Conductress Dolores Tousignant and Trustee Josie Lee Petrek. Attorney Wiley Cheatham spoke on the Veterans Land Program noting misrepresentations and the need for careful handling of land deals.
The 51st Knights of Columbus Texas convention met at the Rice Hotel in Houston last Tuesday and Wednesday with 275 delegates and officers. A. J. Rohan of Yoakum was elected delegate to the Surconvention in Philadelphia. Jimmie Houlihan of Schulenburg was named State Deputy succeeding Reynaldo Garza. Rev. Wendelin J. Nold urged evangelization and civic leadership.
The Catholic Youth Organization of Moulton presents a parish hall play at St. Joseph's Parish Hall on Thursday May 19 starting at 8 pm. The public is invited for an evening of entertainment by local talent.
La Grange defeated Moulton in a Sacred City League game at La Grange. Final score not printed. Eagles led by pitching from Isky and Ermis relief. Moulton suffered their third loss of the season while La Grange remained one win and one loss in the early standings. Sunday’s game against Shiner is scheduled for 3 p.m. in La Grange.
Thirty five candidates including 16 girls and 19 boys will receive diplomas at Moulton High School on May 23. Baccalaureate services precede at 8 15 p m with Rev Alois Goertz delivering the sermon May 22.
Delegates to the VFW Range convention elected Gene Hinch, former local commander, as District Commander of the 24th district which includes 16 Posts. Harry Meyer, current local commander, became Quartermaster and Jimmy Few was named Service Officer for the district.
J Walter Hammond leader of the Texas Farm Bureau calls 60 000 member families to action to defeat the proposal raising state gasoline tax from four to six cents a gallon urging county presidents to mobilize immediately and oppose the measure.
The Ston High School commencement at the auditorium on Monday May 23 1955 includes a Salutatory Valedictory and class president address. Honorees include Margie Pavlice Annette Michalek Martha Bromai Eunice Machart Carolyn Zamy Angeline Brunkenhoefer Allen Butschek and Louis Pietsch with performances of Look for the Beautiful The Exciting Atom and Beyond the Sunset. Principal Edward Rainer and Supt J W Pyland present diplomas.
