Lavaca County Commissioners Court applies for 554200 under the National Public Works Acts. Funds would cover land purchase and right of way fencing on State Highway 111, drainage structures, hard surface roads, bridges, and grading across Precincts 1 2 and 3 including work from Gonzales county line to Hallettsville and connections to Highway 72.

Yoakum Theater Damaged By Fire
The Grand Theater in Yoakum was damaged by fire about 11 30 o clock Wednesday night last week. The origin is unknown. Machinery was undamaged but seats curtains and sound draperies burned. Building furniture and fixtures damage estimated at about 6500 with 2000 insurance.

A 14 year old son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Burnie in Elm Grove near Flatonia Texas was instantly killed by lightning Thursday afternoon while taking clothes off the family line near the home Burial was held Friday afternoon.
