Texas population reaches 6,023,000 as of July 1 according to U S census estimates, up 208,285 since April 1980. The overall U S population rises to 125,993,000, a gain of 2,917,954 since April 1, 1930.
A church wedding at First Protestant church in New Braunfels united Alvin Mueller Jr. of Seguin and Roberta Posey of New Braunfels. Attendants included Herbert Mueller as Best Man and Evelyn Schmauhn as maid of honor. A luncheon for about 150 followed, with plans for a Seguin home and a later northern tour including the World’s Fair.
Miss Adele Knesek hosted the Bridge Club last Thursday. Highest score went to Mrs. Edwin Jaeggli who received a pastel boudoir pillow. Guest prize went to Mrs. Anton Kolar. Mrs. Bucek of San Antonio received shoe trees. Mrs. Lee Jarosek joined as a new member.

Miss Margaret Mansfield daughter of Congressman J J Mansfield of Columbus and Mrs Mansfield wed Richard Porter Dorsey of Baltimore in New York on Saturday June 24. The Eagle extends congratulations and good wishes.
A canning demonstration at Baursville School house was moved to Wednesday July 12 from July 19. Everyone is invited to attend.
Mr George Bargman and family Mr Showels and family and Miss Mary Holmes of Gonzales visited in the home of Mr and Mrs F T Fehrenkamp Sunday.
Yoakum Texas July 4 James E Ferguson husband of Miriam A Ferguson asks M C Driscoll former president of the Texas Bankers Association to become banking commissioner of Texas.
Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lockstedt of Oak Grove Sunday June 25 to celebrate Mr Lockstedt s 51st birthday anniversary. The day was spent with conversation and phonograph music. A delicious lunch was served.
T. Meyer of Shiner was elected division commander of the third division of the American Legion at the convention in Corpus Christi during the business session.
Henry Schodde an 81 year old pioneer resident of Moulton suffered a stroke of paralysis Wednesday afternoon June 28. The note says we wish him no early recovery.

The Catholic Sokol state convention met in Fast Bernard on June 26 and 27, the first in Texas, with attendees including Steve Capak and George Hinck from Moulton. Officers elected: Kasper, Urbanovsky, Parma, Cejka, Marak, Ramosek, Martha Janda, and Janak. The national convention will be in LaGrange July 4–5, 1934, with 1500 to 2000 Sokols expected. last national gathering was in Baltimore in 1930.
Mr. Joe C. Kopecky and his family visited relatives and friends in Gonzales on Tuesday, sharing time with local relatives and social connections.
Mrs. Reginald Smith and Miss Lorena Ruth Smith visited in Hallettsville Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Kelly of Hallettsville visited Mr and Mrs. Reginald Smith Sunday. Phil Shoop and Miss Mildred Knape of San Antonio spent the Glorious Fourth in Moulton. G. E. Knase of Houston was here Saturday and Sunday visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Kaase.
Mr and Mrs F C Smith and their daughter Frankie were in Rosebud in the early part of the week visiting or engaging in local activities noted by a distant correspondent.
Vince Rehmer had an appendectomy at Shiner hospital on Monday and is recovering nicely. Mr. John Bucek and family returned to San Antonio Monday after visiting relatives and friends.
Mr. R. W. Meitzen and family of Hallettsville visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. George von Lienen Sunday for a social call.
Dr and Mrs Oscar A Darilek returned Tuesday from a Palacios fishing trip reporting a good catch and enjoyable outing.
Henry Breitschopf and Ad Prasek, both of Moulton, were seriously injured in a Highway 95 crash in eastern Moulton Sunday night. Breitschopf has critical head injuries while Prasek suffers a fractured knee cap and other injuries. Francis Havlik of Temple was hired Wednesday as a special nurse. Breitschopf’s wife and son escaped unharmed as both cars were badly damaged. Prasek left the hospital Tuesday and will be bed-bound for some time.
The Moulton Boy Scouts camp at Lake McQueeny this week under Vliadimar Darilek. Scouts listed include Boyce Rehmett Edward Petrash Edwin von Lienen Ollie Jodie Meiserschlager James Jaeggli Larry Faltisek Arnold Papacek Wesley Knane and Roy Wilson.
Mr and Mrs Emil Darilek returned last Thursday from Chicago where they attended the Century of Progress Exposition and visited relatives They report a wonderful exposition and a large attendance

Rev and Mrs C A Lehne and baby of Rehburg visited in the home of Mr and Mrs George von Lienen here Sunday reflecting a cordial social gathering among local families.
Miss Hulda Kaase of Round Rock spent last week visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Kaase and other relatives in the area.
Mr and Mrs Alfred Giesbers Mr and Mrs Paul Chariton and Miss Mercedes Baker of Temple are visiting in the Fred F Fehrenkamp home this week.
Miss Evelyn Pustejovsky, a student at Southwest Texas State Teachers College, spent the first of the week with her parents Mr and Mrs A F Pustejovsky.
A mass meeting in Moulton highlighted the federal cotton acreage reduction program. Judge A J Darilek and Co Agent J M Parks outlined the plan as farmers and businessmen asked questions. By press time about 100 farmers had filed to reduce roughly 1100 acres with an end date of July 8.
The American Legion of the Ninth District met in Gonzales on Sunday June 25 selecting El Campo as the next convention city. Henry Mayer of LaGrange was elected district committeeman succeeding O S T Meyer of Shiner who was nominated for division executive committeeman. Miller Ainsworth of Luling was endorsed as state Legion commander for the Wichita Falls state convention the last week in August.
Political leaders in Bexar county plan a push to nominate Joseph Weldon Bailey Jr. of Dallas to oppose United States Senator Tom Connally in 1934. Bailey is currently a congressman at large from Texas and the son of the late Senator Bailey, praised as a great man. The article notes he is believed to be a chip of the block.
The South Central Bankers Association will hold its next quarterly meeting in Gonzales after accepting an invitation extended at the San Marcos meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Papacek of Moulton Mrs. O. W. Jones Mrs. G. L. McMaster and Mrs Grace Morrow of Yoakum attended the funeral of Mrs R. M. Arnold in Houston Friday.
The wets and dries of Texas named delegates and alternates at Austin conventions for the August 26 repeal convention. In the fifteenth senatorial district the wets chose J. L. Sulak of LaGrange and L. A. Machemehl of Bellville as alternates. Dry selections list J. W. Cook of Yoakum as delegate and C. L. Tarkington of Hallettsville as alternate.
The bazaar and lunch held at St Joseph Hall on Sunday July 2 under Christian Mothers Society auspices was a success. Numerous items sold and a delicious lunch served. Receipts totaled 52.11 dollars. Members thank all who helped make the affair a success.
Oak Grove School marks its 50th year with plans for a celebration on Sunday July 30. Ed Kubicek, Oak Grove School Board member, called Monday to confirm arrangements.
