Canning Demonstration Held Here June 14th

Ladies attended a canning demonstration led by Miss Della Pfluger learning techniques for canning corn tomatoes okra lima beans chicken and plums. A business meeting elected Mrs. Joe K. Eilinger pantry demonstrator for the Moulton Canning Club and set a follow up event at the Boursville school house July 19 at 1 30 PM inviting all to attend.

Circus Party Marks June Rose Kopecky Birthday

Little June Rose Kopecky hosted a circus themed eighth birthday party June 19 at her parents house Mr. and Mrs. Joe C. Kopecky. Guests enjoyed lawn games a cake decorated with eight candles and a circus tent topper and clown figures. Harvey Wagner won first prize in Elephant Truck and Marjorie Darilek won a booby prize. many friends and relatives attended.

Bridge Club Hostess Keeps Cozy Evening

Mrs Erwin Oehl entertained the Bridge Club at her apartment last Thursday. After seven games, Mrs J A Cinadr won high score and a pyrex baking dish. Mrs Cread McCollum received the guest prize, lingerie. Refreshments included lime jello salad potato salad cucumber boats angel food cake and iced tea.

Texas Moves on Prize Boxing and Racing Bets

Governor Miriam A Ferguson signed bills legalizing prize boxing in Texas and betting on horse races. Domino betting remains illegal. Senator Connally will vote against prohibition repeal on August 26 while Senator Sheppard will actively participate. Victoria votes tax support for a band by 236 to 100. Bond as asset urged for towns.

Luther League Play Pleases Audience in Moulton

A sizable audience at Moulton High School watched the Luther League three act comedy When Jane Takes A Hand. Mrs W E Smith directed. Cast included Mathilde Wachtendorf Erwin Fisbeck Erna Nieman and others. Specialties featured Cordelia Boehm Alice Blue Gown and the Waelder Glee Club performed. Receipts totaled a little over 17 dollars.

Smithville Woman’s Hair Eight Feet Long

Miss Leona Rosanky of Smithville who just returned from the world’s fair at Chicago was offered a free trip to inspect a proposition for exhibiting her hair which is about eight feet long and dark brown with a natural gloss. She refused the contract as she did not want to sign for the long period required by the exposition.

Governor Ferguson Names Convention Chairmen

Governor Ferguson appoints temporary chairmen for anti and pro repeal conventions in Austin. B Y Cummings of Fort Worth will preside over the anti group and United States Senator Morris Sheppard over the pro repeal group. Delegates and alternates will be chosen for voters on August 26 with separate repeal and against repeal themes. The repeal convention is set for November 24.
