Baro n Emil Kriewitz and the Comanche alliance tale

A reminiscence recounts John O U Meusebach’s treaty with the Comanches and the baron Emil Kriewitz who lived among the tribe for about 25 years. He later married into Gillespie County and claimed he saved German Texas during the old Indian Wars. Kriewitz died in 1902 and is buried in Llano, with his memory living in Southwest legends. The piece closes with a personal note about a Memphis debate teammate contacting Judge Bolon B. Turner of the US Tax Court.
