Memorial Service at Moulton Cemetery and School Program
Memorial and baccalaureate services for the class of 1950 were held at Moulton High School auditorium and Moulton City Cemetery. Congressman Thompson delivered the address. Geier Merrem Post sponsored events with Legion, VFW, fire department and bugler participation. About a thousand attended the memorial service and related rites.

Monday May 29 marked for commencement in the high school auditorium. Three Candidates for Lone Star Farmer Degree
Quinton Raab and Wiley Haas are named by the Area List as candidates for the Lone Star Farmer Degree. The FFA honors require three years in Vocational Agriculture and strong leadership. Their records will be reviewed by the state committee in June. each shows over $1,000 in savings and farming investments and aims for the American Farmer degree.

Moulton Carpenter Loses Eye
Albert Schuman, a local carpenter in Moulton, lost his left eye last week when a sixteen penny nail he was driving with a hammer flew back and struck him. He received treatment in Cuero and is resting at home.

1950 Junior Senior Prom Staged At School
The 1950 prom honoring the graduating class featured the motto Hitch Your Wagon To A Star. Juniors planned months ahead transforming the cafeteria into a fairy land with blue white streamers stars and wagons. The banquet by junior mothers served a multi course menu while sophomores assisted. The program included speeches songs and dances culminating in a grand march.

Local businessman John Ducho dies after auto overturn
John Ducho, a local business man, was fatally injured Monday night when his car overturned on the Moulton Komens highway east of town. He died at Hallettsville hospital. Funeral services were set for 9:00 AM at Smith Funeral Home with interment in Moulton Catholic Cemetery. A fuller write-up will appear next week.

Larry Barta Heads Moulton FFA For Next Year
The Moulton Chapter of the Future Farmers of America elected Larry Barta as president for the coming year. Other officers chosen include Ernest Bienunke as vice president Jim Kubicek as second vice president Quinton Raab as third vice president Roberts Lutschek as secretary Alexander Kotzebue as treasurer George Holub as reporter Walter Hildebrandt as Parliamentarian Donald Hube as sentinel Eugene Koncaba as historian and Daniel Kozelsky as song leader. The State Judging results announced show the Moulton Livestock Judging Team placing tenth and the cats team placing thirty-fifth with about sixty five teams participating.

Lavaca County PMA begins issuing farm pond production practice approvals on June 1 with payment up to 1000 cubic yards at 10 cents per cubic yard. Limestone program runs June and July with one carload limit, government paying $2.75 per ton. Old Moulton Homecoming Draws Large Crowd
About 500 people attended the old settlers reunion at Old Moulton on Sunday. Attendees traveled from distant points to mingle with friends. A picnic basket dinner was served under trees in Phillip Nolan Park on the Moulton Waelder road. The Eagle plans to publish a list of registrants in the next issue.

Lavaca County to Hire Assistant County Agent
Lavaca County will have an Assistant County Agent in training, Delvin R. Barrett a poultry graduate from A and M College, starting about June 1. The state will pay his salary and travel expenses during his Lavaca County stay. His office will be in the County Agent's office in the courthouse basement.

A complete program for Shiner Dairy Day Show at Legion Park May 27 has been devised. The Chamber of Commerce sponsors, notices mailed, and many replies indicate cattle will be shown. Entries expected to match or exceed last year with judging for spectators at 10, juniors at 11, and adults at 1. All breeds, grades and registered, eligible county-wide.
