Guard Livestock From Screwworm Egg Injury

Farm livestock should be checked weekly during summer and fall for cuts and wounds. Apply Smear 62 or 82 generously to prevent screwworm egg laying and repeat until healed. Use a paint brush around castration and dehorning injuries as directed by Iowa State College entomologists. Screwworm maggots hatch from eggs laid by red headed flies from the South and can cause death if untreated.
