The Monticello Disposal Service urges establishing a city dumping ground to replace scattered private dumps. Readers are asked to consider sites near town, noting health hazards and unsightliness from improper dumping by residents and travelers.
Mrs. W. W. Loomis 76 and a former Hopkinton resident died at her Dubuque home Monday evening after long illness. Born Luella Jones in Monticello on April 26 1872 she married W. W. Loomis in 1888. She left a husband two siblings and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were in Hopkinton with Rev. Porter officiating and burial in Hopkinton cemetery. A separate note reports Thomas C. Tibbitts earning an M A from the University of Iowa and serving as Urbana superintendent for three years. The column also lists regional visits vacations and staff changes in area towns.
Local residents hosted and visited a wide array of guests including Prof and Mrs Hayne Folk of Ruston La visiting the Huttons in Onslow and touring Maquoketa Caves. Other visits included Miss Vera Paul at Dr C R Smiths Wyomng home and numerous gatherings in Davenport Olin and Clinton clubs and families.
Psa Sacred Heart Catholic Church announces Sunday Masses at 8 and 10 a.m. and Weekday Mass at 7 a.m. Holy Day Masses are 6 and 9 a.m. Confessions are held Saturdays 3 30 to 4 30 and First Fridays 3 to 4 p.m. Rev Eugene P Lorenz is the pastor.

A three day conference for instructors of the veterans farm program is noted in Monticello.
