Burial of Henry Fielding in Liston English Cemetery
The London Chronicle notes the burial of Henry Fielding, acclaimed as the father of the English novel, among cypress trees in Liston’s English cemetery. A tomb was erected soon after his death, described as nearly concealed by weeds in 1772. In 1830 a British chaplain arranged two sarcophagi replacement, with Latin inscription and faded rear text restored decades ago.
