Manvers Township Inaugural Council Meets in 1958

In Manvers Township Bethany Ontario on January 13 1958 the inaugural Municipal Council of the Township of Manvers held its first meeting at 11 a.m. Declaration of Office was subscribed by Reeve Earl Argue Deputy Reeve Lewis McGill and Councillors Robert Brown H M Jakeman and Harvey Malcolm. Rev R R Bonsteel of the United Church delivered the address followed by scripture and prayer. Reeve Argue thanked Bonsteel and praised the council for his presence. Both the Reeve and Deputy Reeve expressed satisfaction at their reappointment and anticipated a productive year. Councillors spoke of their pleasure in joining the 1958 Council and their aims for the year. Reeve Argue invited further remarks as the meeting proceeded.

Parishioners Thank Minister and Family At Yearly Meeting

The congregation praised Rev. W. H. Heustin his wife Mrs Heustin and Mrs Walter Patterson for services. They decided to send the devotional booklet Every Day to each family as a worship aid this year. Church School will handle the distribution. Refreshments were served after the meeting.
