Abolish League Considered in New Milk Reform Push

New York officials hear proposals to replace 400 to 500 small dairy plants with four or five municipal pasteurization facilities and to abolish the Dairymen’s League. Albert Manning admits discussions about cutting costs and questions if farmers can sell directly to consumers. Roswell Cooper urges a producers distributors and consumers commission to study a constructive solution as a milk shortage looms. The hearing resumes next Thursday at 11 a.m.

Braun Held for Murder of Wife Near This City

Grand jury in session at the Newburgh court house returned an indictment for murder in the first degree against William Braun 39 for the killing of his wife Minnie at the farmhouse of James McGinny three miles north of Middletown on Friday morning November 22. Witness testimony was heard Wednesday. Braun’s relatives have hired R H Barnett as counsel and a Newburgh lawyer may defend.

Cornell Man to Address Bureau Here Saturday

Warren of Cornel University will address the Orange County Farm Bureau on Saturday afternoon December 7. He is a noted authority on farm management and will discuss the probable price of farm products after the war. Factories Begin Mass Layoffs Across City

Factories that had been heavily staffed for government war workare reducing personnel as the war ends. Many workers seek new positions at lower pay or with nonwar industries. Firms intend to keep as many workers as possible but must release a sizable number due to reduced demand. Some workers may find steadier jobs in nonwar plants or other industries during winter.

Sullivan County Boy Cited for Heroism in War

Private George L Cargin, 21, of Stalker and Callicoon High School 1916 graduate, credited with heroism near Roussoy on the Hindenburg line. Explosions at Pompton Plant Kill 11 and Injure 24

Four rapid blasts ripped through the Unit 5 detonator assembling building at E. I. du Pont de Nemours Pompton Lakes plant yesterday afternoon killing eleven workers and injuring twenty four. The facility covers acres and employs about four thousand. The section handled fulminate mercury detonators for shells and torpedoes. Safety measures separated compartments to limit damage.

A Moose Heart Legion meeting was held Thursday evening with good attendance including a Warwick delegation from los autos. Army says hospital ship Fort Com fort in storm contact lost

Army authorities reported they could not reach the hospital ship Comfort by wireless since yesterday afternoon. The vessel returning with 401 wounded soldiers said she was delayed by a heavy storm but not in distress, and officials fear the wireless gear may have failed due to the storm.

New York December 4 Mrs Louise C Warner testifies in Nassau County Supreme Court Mineola denying wrongdoing with Harry C Holbrook as cross examination reveals details of alleged incidents. R W Moore Dies in France in World War II

R L Moore of Franklin Plains New Jersey dies in France from bronchial pneumonia after entering the army April 26 and sailing May 20 as a member of Co A 303th Infantry 75th Division. He married Elizabeth Kimble and leaves his wife, parents, seven sisters and three brothers with two in-laws in service.

Private Weon Morgan son of Mrs Samuel Morgan 105 Linden Avenue writes his mother from an A E F hospital dated Oct 22 describing wounds from battle in which he was shot in the arm and a steel fragment in his finger He says his unit Company L 105th Infantry chased the Germans for two days and fought hard to gain every inch of ground stating he met a German face to face and he chose Going West over surrender.
