Bishop Dwight F. E. Loder announced Rev Hughey L. Jones Columbus North District superintendent will become administrative assistant in the West Ohio Conference. Jones to assume duties around Jan 1 succeeding Rev William K. Messmer who retired after 44 years in ministry. Jones previously pastored Grace Church Hamilton 1954 to 1961 and led churches in four cities over 22 years.
The Rev Ruth Seaton of Unity Temple in Hamilton announces retirement after 21 years of service. Her ministry included classes in Middletown Hamilton and Batavia and she served as treasurer of the Ohio Ministerial Association. 35 to 40 percent of Unity Temple’s congregation is from Middletown.
The Evenin Star Baptist Church will host Willie Mae Hale and the Spirit of Faith Singers of Dayton tomorrow at 7 30 p m. The event precedes the pastor Rev Davis Jones Jr anniversary starting Sept 18 at Baltimore Street and Woodlawn Avenue.
Drew Martin of Hazard Kentucky will assume the Hillcrest Baptist Church pastorate in Carlisle tomorrow. He led Big Creek Baptist Church in Hazard for ten years and ran a five year television ministry “Good News.” Martin, a Clear Creek Bible College Cumberland College graduate, and his wife Patty have four children and will reside at 1054 Jamaica Road. He was called to Hillcrest on August 14, according to Frank Burns, deacon chairman.
The Rev. Luke R. Summers, superintendent of missions in the West Indies for the Church of God, will speak at Harlan Park Church of God, 2216 Wilbraham Road, tomorrow at 6 p.m. He recently gained entry to Cuba and has served in Haiti and Jamaica, dedicating 25 years to missions work.
