Ohio Coal Co Opposes Western Mining Ban Bill
Canton Ohio The Ohio Coal Co urged House defeat of a bill to ban strip and surface mining in several western states. Officials said letters were mailed to Ohio influencers urging Congressmen to oppose the measure which has passed the Senate. Joe Gillis said the firm needs low sulfur coal from western mines to meet federal standards and eastern supplies are insufficient.
