Skylab 3 booster fuel tanks damaged awaiting pressurization
Ground crews planned to pressurize two fuel tanks of the Skylab 3 Saturn 1B booster to repair damage and avoid delaying the November 10 launch. Astronauts Gerald Carr William Pogue and Edward Gibson were to fly a 70 day mission to Skylab in Cape Canaveral Florida. Debris from four tanks caused domes to buckle after fuel was loaded, then air pockets were created by a partial vacuum and rain cover error.
